Radiator purmo how to connect

The Purmo company became famous thanks to the steel heating radiators, in the production of which it specializes. The achievement of success was facilitated by the company's policy, in which the quality of products is of great importance. Its high level of performance is confirmed by European and Russian certificates. The company offers several types of radiators: tubular and panel. However, its range is not limited to them only. It also includes convectors, heated towel rails, ventilation systems and pipes. Thus, this manufacturer gives every consumer the opportunity to assemble a heating system based on the products of this company.

Advantages of Purmo radiators

Purmo radiators have gained high popularity due to their advantages, among which the main ones are the following:

  • Among the radiator models there are those that have a sophisticated design. A prime example is the Purmo Planora, which uses a sleek metal screen in its design. This feature gives this radiator an original look;
  • For the production of radiators produced under the Purmo brand, cold-rolled steel with a thickness of 1.25 mm is used. The exception is the Planora model, which has a screen thickness of 2 mm. Each structural element must be painted using cataphoresis. This procedure allows the product to effectively resist corrosion. At the final stage, white RAL 9016 epoxy paint is applied to the panels. Although the customer always has the opportunity to choose any other color at his discretion;
  • During manufacturing, each product must pass a leak test , which involves creating a pressure of 12 atmospheres inside the radiator.

Panel radiators

Any heating device must have a high-quality coating.
After all, thanks to it, the product will not only look attractive, but will also be able to effectively resist oxidative processes. In this regard, when manufacturing heating devices, great attention should be paid to painting. Regarding “Purmo” panel radiators, it should be noted that to create the coating, the same method is used that has become widespread in the automotive industry. At the first stage, the battery is kept in a bath filled with a priming solution, after which the product is coated with a specially selected paint in an electrostatic field. After a certain time, a paint coating appears that adheres reliably to the metal surface , coping well with temperature fluctuations.

The standard version of panel heating radiators assumes they are made in white. However, if desired, the consumer can be offered any color from the standard palette, which contains more than 700 shades.

Within this category, the following models can be distinguished:

  • Purmo Compact (Purmo Compact);
  • Purmo Planora (PCV) or Plan Compact;
  • Purmo Ramo Compact;
  • Purmo Hygiene (Hygiene).

Basic model Purmo Compact (Purmo Compact)

This model is distinguished by the use of a grooved front panel in its design. The panel radiator provides lateral connection , for which there are 4 outlets with ½” internal thread.
This product can be made in several versions: 11, 12, 22, 23. In the given markings, the first number indicates the number of panels used to ensure coolant circulation, and the second number indicates the number of additional convection panels. It is worth noting that as the number of panels increases, the power of the panel heating radiator also increases. Moreover, along with its increased size, it also acquires greater depth. Such panel batteries can be used for one-pipe and two-pipe closed systems.

Sometimes these panel heating radiators are found in a design that provides for a bottom connection. This modification has its own special name - Purmo Ventil Compact. Among its features, it should be mentioned that the coolant pipes used in the design can be placed at the bottom on the right or left side.

It is also worth mentioning another modification that has a similar connection - Purmo Ventil Compact M. Its main feature is the placement of the entrance, which is allocated a place at the bottom in the center. The advantage of this option is the possibility of removing the pipe without installing a radiator. For the side connection method, such an action can lead to certain difficulties.

Smooth panel battery Purmo Planora (PCV) or Plan Compact

In terms of its design, it is a steel panel heating radiator , which is equipped with a smooth front panel.
This model provides similar connection types, dimensions, and thermal power as the basic product. When starting to install the Purmo panel radiator, which is connected from below, you should keep in mind that there is a space allocated for the supply pipe on the left side , and for the return pipe on the right.

Front panel with horizontal stripes Purmo Ramo Compact

A special feature of this panel radiator is the presence of wide horizontal stripes stamped on the surface on the outside. in question is offered with two connection options : side and bottom. A clue to the presence of a bottom connection is the presence of the word Ventil in the name. The panel radiator is available in several standard versions: 11, 21, 22,33,44.

Special panel type Purmo Hygiene (Hygiene)

This panel radiator is almost no different from the models discussed above, except that there are no additional fin plates in its design.
The need for such Purmo heating panel radiators often arises in hospitals and clinics. At the same time, they are in demand among people suffering from allergic diseases. The use of perforated steel plates increases the heat transfer coefficient. However, during their cleaning difficulties arise , which are associated with the fact that the plates are separated from each other at a minimum distance. In this case, both brushes and the steam generator are ineffective. Because of this, they cannot be used in medical institutions. The absence of additional panels makes it possible to provide greater access to heat, as well as reduce the percentage of convective heat transfer, which becomes especially important for public places. These panel radiators are offered in three standard versions: 10, 20, 30.

Tubular radiators Purmo

Steel tubular radiators attract attention with their beautiful design, which even standard models have.
However, this applies to those devices that are manufactured at a high level. It is the high quality of workmanship that is the main advantage of Purmo radiators. If we consider the design of these devices, their basis is represented by two section heads, manufactured on the basis of a steel profile by stamping. Steel pipes are also attached to them by welding. Pipes can be used in different quantities - about 2-6. Their number also affects the depth of the section. After creating the sections, they are fastened together by welding , resulting in the formation of a radiator. A mandatory procedure is a leak test, after which an anti-corrosion compound is applied to it and covered with paint.

The most widespread among tubular models are the following:

  • Delta Laserline and Delta Laserline;
  • VT Purmo Delta Twin M.

Delta Laserline and Delta Laserline VT

This radiator is characterized by a special shape: the pipes are given a configuration similar to the letter D. This solution allows you to increase the heating area , which has a positive effect on the power of the device while maintaining the same dimensions.
In appearance, the Delta Laserline VT modification is a tubular radiator that provides a bottom connection method. For the pipes through which the coolant flows, a place can be allocated either on the right and left sides or in the center. Each battery is equipped with a thermostatic valve.

Tall radiators Purmo Delta Twin M

This Purmo tubular radiator model is perfect for those rooms where there is limited space for installing a radiator of suitable power.
Such a device can only be manufactured in a two-pipe design. Its design provides for a lower connection option—in the center. There are mounting brackets on the reverse side. This unit comes with brackets. Judging by the technical characteristics of the device, we can say that it can be used as a component of central heating systems. True, this option is only permissible with an independent connection.

Procedure for connecting Purmo radiators

For effective heating, it is important to connect the batteries correctly. And here it is important to remember the following points.

  1. Most often, radiators are connected using the side method. In this case, the user can connect the device both on the left and on the right. To do this, it is necessary to attach the discharge element to the upper branch pipe , while the return pipe must be connected to the lower one. Connection errors can lead to a reduction in heat transfer and power of the device by at least 25%.
  2. If you have to deal with Purmo radiators, whose length is at least 2 m, then it is advisable to use the cross connection method for them. When water enters the pipe, it is connected from above to the bottom, which is opposite to the pipe.
  3. If the connection pipes are located in a floor plinth, then it is advisable to use a saddle-shaped option. With this method, the loss of thermal power does not exceed 10%.
  4. The bottom connection method has become widespread in cases where radiators equipped with bottom connections are installed. It is important that the pipe through which the coolant will flow is located at a distance of 80 mm from the end of the radiator. In this case, the return line must be placed at 30 mm.
