Malfunctions and repairs of the Astra geyser

The Astra speaker sold quite briskly in the late nineties and early two thousand. A gas water heater was produced in Nizhny Novgorod

The speaker is quite powerful. Gives boiling water easily. I won’t rip off the description from the passport. I would like to tell you about the problems that I most often encounter when repairing these water heaters.

The column, with minor modifications, borrowed the water block from the notorious so-called “Stalinist” column KGI-56. The size of the water block membrane is the same (the membranes are interchangeable). The bottom of the water block is different. In Astra, the water pipes to the block are connected from the side, while in KGI-56 it is from the bottom or from the rear wall. The failures in the block are the same - leaks from the rod seal, deformation or rupture of the membrane (the main burner does not ignite). It is not the design of the water block itself that has gone downhill, but the material from which it is made. On the Astra HSV it is made of aluminum alloy, which is much worse than brass or bronze. Over time, especially if there have been leaks in the water block, silumin is very strongly oxidized and it becomes impossible to disassemble the block to replace the membrane. It’s good if you can unscrew the tubes from the block to replace the entire block. By the way, the price of a block for this rarity is also steep - about 1000 rubles.

The gas block with two levers is the same as that of the KGI, but modified. This geyser has a safety automatic, consisting of a thermocouple and an electromagnetic valve. There are both failures of thermocouples and valves. Gas is supplied to the column igniter from the gas block, and the air for combustion of the igniter is taken from the top of the column. This was not done by accident. If there is no draft in the chimney, then carbon monoxide enters the room at the top of the column. The air intake for the igniter is also located there. If there is no draft, the oxygen required for combustion is no longer supplied to the igniter, and it goes out. Accordingly, the thermocouple cools down and the gas valve closes. This is how protection against lack of traction is implemented in this column. I have never seen this on any other mass-installed speakers.

Another bottleneck of this column is the tubes going to the heat exchanger. The tubes are connected to the heat exchanger using union nuts. Gaskets gradually shrink due to temperature changes and begin to leak. Since the tubes are copper and the union nuts are steel, this connection boils very quickly so that nothing can be used to unscrew it. We also came across tubes that began to leak over time (through corrosion).

Problems with heat exchangers are rare. The walls of the combustion chamber are made of heat-insulating material.

Let's summarize. A quite common dispenser with poor maintainability of the water part. Because of this, many craftsmen simply do not like to repair them. The gas part and heat exchanger usually do not cause problems.

Despite the fact that today housing and communal services networks are being modernized everywhere, the quality of the services they provide remains at a low level. This is especially true for hot water supply. To solve this problem once and for all, you should purchase a gas water heater. However, you first need to decide which model is best for you.

Modern manufacturers offer the mentioned devices in a wide range. They have certain operational and technical characteristics. Columns can be classified into flow-through and storage. As for the former, they are smaller in size, which allows them to be installed even in a small room. Storage gas water heaters can hold from 50 to 500 liters of water.

The design of the container has effective thermal insulation, which allows you to maintain a high water temperature for a long time, which helps save energy resources. If you still can’t decide which geyser to choose, then you can pay attention to equipment under the Astra brand, which will be discussed below. Such devices are good not only because they are manufactured in Russia, which means they have an acceptable cost, but also because they are maintainable. This indicates that in the event of a malfunction, you can figure it out yourself.

Reviews of Astra brand geysers

If you want to save twice as much, you should purchase a domestically produced water heater. These are precisely the Astra geysers. Consumers choose them for their affordable price, but this advantage cannot be called the only one. The units operate on liquefied and natural gas. Buyers also like the high level of security that the manufacturer has taken care of. After all, if the pilot burner goes out, the supply of water for heating will stop, this also applies to the automatic supply of gas.

Such water heaters act as the optimal solution for domestic use. Buyers also like the ease of operation and maintenance. You won't have to spend money on this. The appearance of the structure is attractive, the body has a modern and stylish design. Any geyser from the manufacturer can fit into the interior of the room. Astra geysers, according to buyers, are offered for sale in a wide range. That is why you can choose the most optimal option that will meet the requirements and preferences of the consumer.

Technical characteristics of VPG 8910-00.02

If you are interested in Astra geysers, then you should consider several models at once so that you have the opportunity to make the right choice. Among others, the VPG 8910-00.02 model, which is manufactured in Russia, is presented on the market. Its power can reach 21 kW. The design is equipped with an open combustion chamber and manual ignition.

The hot water supply capacity is 12 l/min. The supplied water can have a temperature that varies from 35 to 60 °C. During operation, the column consumes natural gas in a volume equal to 2.3 m 3 /h. The maximum water pressure can be 6 bar. The lowest operating water pressure is equivalent to 0.5 bar.

Gas connection is carried out using communications that have the following parameters: 3/4 inch. Hot and cold water connections are made using pipes with a diameter of 1/2 inch. The chimney diameter reaches 120 mm. If you are considering Astra geysers, then you should definitely be interested in their dimensions. As for the model described in the section, its dimensions are 700x372x230 mm. The equipment weighs 15 kg.

Technical characteristics of the column brand VPG 8910-08.02

In order to make the right choice, you need to consider several models. Among others, the VPG 8910-08.02 variant is presented on the market, the power of which reaches 18 kW. The design has an open combustion chamber and manual ignition. The productivity of this model is slightly less and is 10 l/min. The temperature of the supplied water remains at the same level, but the fuel consumption will be slightly lower and amount to 2 m 3 / h. The minimum and maximum operating water pressure remains the same. The connection is made with the same parameters. The diameter of the chimney remains the same. The design body has identical parameters.

Main models of the Astra line

There are several dozen different models of gas water heaters on the market. All units have a similar appearance and functionality, but differ in power, performance and dimensions. The most popular models on the market are the following Astra speaker models:

  • VPG 8910-00.02 is a dispenser with a power of 21 kW and a capacity of 12 liters per minute with relatively small dimensions and weight. The burner can only be lit manually. The diameter of the pipes and chimney is standard for this category of water heating devices.
  • VPG 8910-08.02 is a unit with similar characteristics to the previous version, but of a more economical type. The power of the device is 18 kW, the productivity is 10 l/min. The burner is lit manually.
  • VPG 8910-15 is a dispenser with a power of 20 kW and a capacity of up to 10 liters per minute. The design has miniature dimensions and light weight. The ignition method is electronic.
  • VPG 8910-16 is a device with automatic electronic ignition. Productivity – 24 kW, hot water supply up to 12 l/min.

Attention! When purchasing a water heater with a gas burner, you should not pay attention to fashionable and colorful units that stand out.

Although the Astra water heater does not have a bright appearance, it has high performance qualities and lasts longer than its “fashionable” counterparts.

All models of water heaters from have economical gas consumption. Of course, no sophisticated design solutions have been implemented in domestic devices of this line, but maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness have been achieved.

Why should you choose Astra geysers: reviews

Among the main advantages of the equipment described in the article, consumers highlight:

  • lack of unnecessary functionality;
  • reliability;
  • the ability to easily configure the operation of the equipment;
  • high productivity;
  • simple device;
  • ease of use.

The equipment, according to consumers, is repairable. All spare parts can be found in service workshops. And the column itself is quite cheap. Buyers especially like large combustion chambers, so the power of some models reaches 20 kW.

The traction control of the 8910 model is carried out independently. The thermostat in this version is located below. The smoke exhaust path is quite wide, but the column regulator is located under the central fitting. The frame of the structure, according to property owners who purchased such equipment for themselves, is very durable, so it can withstand any load.

The power supply has a protection system. Using special screws, you can easily adjust the fitting. The Astra geyser, the operating instructions for which is supplied, has, according to consumers, economical fuel consumption. The design has a high-quality pressure regulator. Traction can be checked very simply. Removal of combustion products occurs quickly. In terms of safety, the speaker outperforms other models.

Features of Astra geysers

The Heat Exchanger enterprise has been operating in the domestic market for more than 50 years, which has allowed it to take a leading position and surpass most competitors in volume and quality.
The Astra geyser is a simple system for heating water for the purpose of its subsequent use in hot water supply at home. Currently, several models of Astra geysers are produced, each of which has its own features and characteristics. The only similarity among them is the system controls, which are located on the front face of the unit.

Attention! Another feature that is present in all installations from this company is a safety system: if the burner goes out, the water supply stops.

Main characteristics

Speaker manufacturer. This enterprise has been producing high-tech products for 60 years. The plant produces dispensers that use only natural gas as fuel, and the combustion products are released through a chimney.

Modern models of geyser are economical, have high efficiency, and do not harm the environment. The devices are more profitable than boilers for heating water, as their productivity is higher. They don't use too much fuel, so it doesn't cost much to the consumer. The average cost of the device is 9,000 rubles.

Astra geysers help solve the issue of hot water supply. Even the low power model can heat enough water for the whole family. More advanced devices, which have a capacity of up to 12 liters per minute, are capable of simultaneously servicing two water connection points.

Despite the fact that this water heater is a budget option, it contains elements that ensure complete safety. For example, in some cases the device turns off automatically.

This is possible if:

  • No traction;
  • The water supply has stopped;
  • There is no flame.

Good technical characteristics and a wide range of products make the water heaters an ideal option for providing homes with hot water.

Interesting! The cost of the Astra gas water heater is much lower than equipment from well-known world brands, but its functionality and design make the device a worthy competitor.

Design and principle of operation

The design of the column is extremely simple, as is the operating principle. The burner is ignited using a solenoid valve and wires; the fire heats the water, which is supplied through special tubes for the cold liquid entering and then the hot liquid exiting.

Power adjustment is made using a gas tap and special levers. All structural elements are of a mechanical type, so the components are of low cost, which means that in the event of a breakdown, repairs will not hit the family budget. According to functionality, all components of the structure are divided into gas and water.

Pros and cons of technology

A domestic water heater has many advantages:

  • Has an affordable price;
  • Safe and reliable;
  • Features a classic design;
  • Dimensions allow it to fit even in a small room;
  • Uses gas economically;
  • Easy to install and easy to use;
  • It is not difficult to configure the operation of the equipment;
  • Heats up a sufficient amount of water in a minute;
  • In the event of a breakdown, it is not difficult to find spare parts.

Although the devices are relatively cheap, you should not purchase the most affordable model. After all, a low price indicates the use of low-quality components. Because of this, some devices often leak during operation. Although replacement elements can be purchased at any store, if breakdowns occur frequently, then the question will arise as to whether it is worth using cheap equipment and regularly spending money on equipment.

If you light Astra geysers, this process will be accompanied by an unpleasant sound. Some products have poorly configured automation systems responsible for controlling and maintaining temperature conditions.

For many, the lack of additional functions and the primitiveness of the mechanism are disappointing. But, if you use new technologies and add built-in functionality, the cost of the devices will increase significantly, and the manufacturer does not have such a goal.

The household appliance is repairable, according to all users. You can find any part in service workshops. Among the advantages, buyers highlight the large size of the combustion chambers, so some models have a power of 20 kW. The VPG 8910 model is popular; it allows you to independently adjust the draft, as the operating instructions say.

The diameter of the chimney is quite wide, and the frame of the structure is resistant to any load. The power supply is equipped with an additional protection system, and using special bolts, each owner can easily cope with adjusting the fitting.

Attention! At the Astra gas water heater, fuel is consumed in small quantities. The design includes a device that regulates pressure in communications. Traction can be checked without difficulty.

Repair of Astra brand geyser

Repair of the Astra geyser begins with shutting off the gas. The column does not need to be removed. The front part can be dismantled using a screwdriver, but first you need to unscrew the bolts located on the sides. The first thing you need to check is the economizer; it is located behind the electrode. Removing the latter will be quite difficult. It is fixed with 4 bolts. You should not touch the heat exchanger.

When you repair individual components, it is important not to touch the fitting; it is used to measure pressure. If this part is damaged, the head will have to be replaced. In order to remove the economizer, you only need to unscrew the two side bolts. The consumer may well carry out the repairs with his own hands. The Astra geyser has contacts in its design that often become dirty. If they become unusable, they need to be replaced. If the economizer does not work after replacement, then it will also have to be changed. These faults are among the main ones for Astra speakers.

If you are faced with a problem when the Astra gas water heater does not light up, this may indicate a lack of draft in the ventilation passage. You can check the traction very simply. The gas water heater is turned off, and a burning match should be brought to the chimney outlet. If the flame is carried into the chimney, then everything is in order - you can connect the column. Otherwise, the chimney should be cleaned. However, it is better to entrust this matter to a special master.

The Astra geyser, the malfunctions of which you should consider when operating this equipment, sometimes goes out immediately after ignition. In this case, you should adjust the supply of cold water to the column. Do not try to dilute hot and cold water, as this may cause the flame to die out.

Pros and cons of technology

Advantages of the Astra gas water heater:

  • affordable price;
  • ability to work on natural and liquefied gas;
  • safety;
  • classic design;
  • optimal dimensions;
  • economical gas consumption;
  • ease of operation and installation.
  • availability of spare parts and components.

Considering the relative cheapness of the gas water heater, you should not choose the cheapest model. As a rule, the lower the cost, the lower the quality of the materials used. In this regard, many models have a big drawback: constant leaks are observed during operation. Replacement spare parts, of course, can be purchased at any store, but if breakdowns of this kind are frequent, the question arises about the effectiveness of using such low-cost equipment with regular maintenance costs. In almost all models, when igniting, the sound of the fuse in the form of a pop

. The automation is poorly configured regarding temperature control and maintenance. Many are disappointed by the lack of additional functions, primitive design and mechanism (although for some this may be a plus).

The use of new technologies in speakers and the presence of many built-in functionality leads to a significant increase in the cost of equipment, and the manufacturer does not pursue such a goal.

Simple Astra geysers have gained popularity due to their extremely simple design and low cost. They are affordable water heating equipment and have been on the Russian market for several decades. There are many models available for consumers to choose from, varying in performance and power. What are the advantages and features of Astra geysers?

  • Lack of unnecessary functionality, which has a beneficial effect on the cost of equipment;
  • Capacity up to 12 l/min, quite enough for two water points;
  • Good reliability, and this is a very important factor when buying.

Each speaker will delight you with the absence of complex components and the availability of spare components on the repair services market. You can buy an Astra gas water heater in many online stores and plumbing stores in your city.

Manufacturers cannot help but praise their products. Therefore, when purchasing, it is customary to pay attention to customer reviews. We will give them as an example in this review. With their help, you can learn about the weak points of the products presented and the most common breakdowns.

We accompany each published review with a list of advantages and disadvantages compiled by the customers themselves. Based on them, you can get a more objective assessment of the selected model. You can read reviews of geysers from Bosch in another review on our website.

In my opinion, this is the simplest speaker that can be found on sale. The price of the Astra 8910-10 geyser is so low that the purchase will not put a dent in the buyer’s pocket. In its simplicity, it resembles old Soviet speakers. Many experts praise this model, so I bought it without hesitation. What can you say about her? It heats the water perfectly, you can even make the temperature very high. The control is carried out by two handles, but we almost never touch them, except in winter, when the water from the tap becomes colder and the temperature at the outlet of the column drops.

Advantages:

  • Simple design, so you can repair it yourself;
  • Extremely affordable price, perfectly combined with reliability;
  • Ignition is carried out without popping noises, and due to the constantly burning fuse, there is no need to buy batteries (by the way, batteries cost more than this fuse can consume in six months of operation).

Flaws:

  • When you open the tap, hot water flows first, then the temperature stabilizes. Therefore, out of habit, you can get burned;
  • The controls are not very convenient, despite the fact that there are only two knobs - an association arises with ancient Soviet speakers;
  • It makes quite a loud noise, fortunately the noise does not penetrate into the bedroom where the child sleeps.

If you are going to buy an Astra gas water heater, try to pay attention to electric ignition. This way you will get rid of the constantly burning wick and can safely leave the apartment without fear of a gas leak. I chose the Astra JSD20-10A gas water heater with electric ignition. The productivity of the model is 10 l/min, the power of the model is 20 kW. Not the most economical option, but the purchase wins in price. However, after three years it began to leak, the heat exchanger leaked. There was no need to change it, because everything was done with inexpensive soldering. In general, a good speaker, albeit with its shortcomings.

Advantages:

  • It is very cheap, and with electric ignition. If you need a modern and inexpensive speaker, choose this one;
  • Normal controls without strange protruding levers - there are simply two rotating knobs on the front panel;
  • There is no unnecessary electronics, which many modern models are crammed with.

Flaws:

  • With weak batteries, ignition occurs with a bang, and household members are scared. Therefore, you have to change batteries frequently;
  • There is no temperature indicator, and the tap is located far from the column, so you have to run back and forth;
  • Dependence of outlet temperature on inlet temperature.

I thought that Russia had finally learned how to make geysers. But it turned out that this was far from true, because the column turned out disgusting. Thank God that it was already discontinued - there was no need to launch it. Prices for Astra gas water heaters are low, but this does not mean that you need to produce such disgusting things. You add a little cold water to the mixer, and for some reason it goes out. When it lights up again, you will have to adjust the temperature with the mixer again. It is difficult to find the desired temperature using the adjustment knobs, especially since there is no electronic display. All this is strange, considering that the instructions for the Astra JSD24-12B geysers indicate that there is automatic temperature maintenance. At first it seemed to work, but then it probably broke. She also flooded the cabinet underneath her, and it swelled, so I had to throw it away.

Advantages:

  • Solid appearance, suggesting that this is a modern speaker (if you don’t know what’s inside);
  • Can work with two taps at the same time, high performance.

Flaws:

  • Strange temperature support, it feels like it doesn’t work at all;
  • The heat exchanger is leaking, and other connections often need to be tightened;
  • Flimsy design, like Chinese speakers (they probably have the same origin, only the manufacturer is eloquently silent about this);
  • Lights up with a slight pop;
  • Repeated calls to the repairman cost us a pretty penny. If something serious breaks down, I recommend that you throw the speaker away immediately rather than engage in dubious repairs. Better yet, don’t buy this rusty and rotten trash at all - save up some money for a normal gas water heater, for example, Ariston or Bosch.

Veronica

My husband and I bought an apartment on the secondary market, and the sellers boasted that a couple of weeks ago they installed a new gas water heater. We were glad about this, since most often no one bothers with buying normal equipment. But it turned out to be abnormal. The column constantly breaks down and sometimes starts leaking. Contacts with the old owners have been lost; where they bought it is also unclear. Over time, it began to ignite poorly, so they replaced some kind of rubber gasket. Then the pilot light began to go out, the technician changed the gas sensor. Water pouring from all the cracks flooded our floors and the back wall of the closet - it simply began to rot. One of these days we are going to the store to buy another speaker, otherwise we are tired of spending money on repairs.

Advantages:

  • Simple controls - just two knobs (although this is not modern, I didn’t know that such speakers were still produced);
  • Rapid achievement of the set temperature.

Flaws:

  • After starting the column, very hot water may flow out of it, burning your hands. After 10 seconds the temperature drops to acceptable values;
  • It resembles a sieve as water flows from all sides. This caused damage to furniture and floors;
  • Incorrect operation of the igniter, periodically goes out and requires re-ignition;
  • Terrible appearance, it feels like it’s some kind of legacy of the USSR;
  • We need a lot of money for repairs, it’s easier to buy a normal speaker from a well-known brand, we want to buy something manufactured abroad.

An average speaker, there are better ones. It bothers me because all the metal parts inside are very thin. Because of this, there have already been leaks a couple of times. It can be repaired independently, but it is still a bit scary to repair it, since you can accidentally break it. Saving is saving, but you can’t save that much. After all, this is a gas unit, the temperature inside is high - and suddenly there is a flimsy heat exchanger, thin tubes and so on. Are there really no standards and requirements for the reliability of gas equipment? It performs all other functions normally.

Advantages:

  • There is a small display that shows the outlet water temperature (you don’t have to touch it with your hands);
  • Electric ignition, although it requires batteries, but safety comes first;
  • There is no huge hole in the body through which the flame can be seen - just a neat control hole;
  • Convenient (albeit not very clear) temperature and pressure adjustment.

Flaws:

  • Low reliability of all internal components, there is a feeling that it was made of foil;
  • There are unpleasant leaks;
  • It turns on poorly at low pressure, although it should have been the other way around.

In this article we will present one of the types of geyser Astra. A device such as the Astra geyser has gained great popularity among Russian consumers due to its convenient functionality, as well as its simple design and very low cost.

Data has long been available on the Russian market and is represented by all kinds of models that differ in power and performance.

Malfunctions and repairs of the Astra geyser

_______________________________________________________________________________

In operation, the gas water heater Astra 8910, when you open the water, a spark is generated, and even when the flame is already burning, the spark continues to be generated, and 1 and 5 times after about five seconds, it stops with the continuation of the flame burning, and in others it simply goes out. You need to start by cleaning the ionization electrode (which does not spark) and it would not hurt to blow off the dust from the device, especially from the burner. The ionization electrode wire could also be burnt, cut off and connected back. A malfunction has appeared related to the water block - when the water is turned off, the column does not turn off immediately, as it should. At first it began to go out with a bang, then it began to go out with a whole series of pops, and now it doesn’t go out at all - small strips of burning gas remain on the burner and they continue to burn and accordingly heat the column, although the water is turned off. As I understand it, the rod is not working properly and does not completely shut off the gas supply? When I assembled it during the last repair, the rod moved quite tightly, but everything worked. Here, it seems, there is a double-edged sword, it moves freely, water seeps in, it moves tightly - there is no water, but there is no complete shutoff of gas. I'm going to lubricate it with something (graphite grease?), maybe it will help? As a last resort, replace the entire water block, but for now I want to get the best out of it, especially since I just replaced the gasket. The frog is not to blame, the spring in the gas part is to blame. Remove the burner, pull out the spring, the smaller one, and stretch it by about 1/3. They love to sit there. In one go, pull out the plug and lubricate it. Is it possible to install a heat exchanger on the VPG-18 Astra from models 20.23? I think it is possible. I’ve never dealt with water heaters before (I lived in apartments with boilers or running hot water), but now I’m faced with an Astra heater. It worked, but it was unrealistic to use; the pressure at the outlet was very weak (although at the inlet it was good), and when mixing water it went out. It’s impossible to take a shower; I took half a bath of boiling water and mixed it with cold water. I decided to carry out an inspection, first of all I disassembled the water reducer, it was covered in plaque (layer 1 - 5-2mm), cleaned it of plaque, naturally cleaned the holes, as it turned out later - the valve body is made of low-quality metal and when interacting with water, this metal decomposed . As a result, after my “revision” the pressure became better, but the column stopped igniting, then I reduced the outlet hole with a brass bushing, as a result of which it began to work, but not as I wanted? In general, if you fix this gearbox with the provided 3 screws, then it does not ignite, but if you loosen the screws and lift the gearbox (I support it with a beam), then everything works fine and goes out if you turn off the hot water and does not go out if you stir with cold water and lights up if open hot. I'm thinking maybe I could lengthen the rod by 2mm? How can it be lengthened? Or what's the problem? Please tell me if the automation on the gas water heater Astra 8910 began to turn off the burner with a delay, i.e. When the hot water is turned off, the fire goes out for half a minute, and not immediately, does this indicate a failure of the membrane? And are there any difficulties in replacing it? I have a repair kit, in addition to the membrane: a brass mushroom, seals, a rod bushing, do I need to change any seals and the mushroom? The membrane has not been changed since its installation in 2008. The smaller spring in the gas part needs to be stretched. The igniter on the Astra gas water heater does not light. What could it be connected with? Remove the pilot tube and clean it. You may need to change the rubber gasket. Malfunction of the VPG-18 Astra geyser, does not ignite, since there is no pressure in the hot water tap, while the pressure in the cold water tap is excellent. What could be the reason? The reasons can be different: the heat exchanger is clogged with scale, the column filter is clogged, there is a blockage in the hot water pipe or in the tap itself, etc. You can try this: disconnect the outlet pipeline from the device and look at the water pressure directly at the outlet of it: if it is good, it means that -it got clogged after, if it’s bad, it means there’s a problem with the device. The Astra 8910 geyser is in operation. When the water is turned on, the main burner does not light up or lights up, but burns very weakly and the flame is not regulated. There is a suspicion that it is time to change the membrane, but could the problem be something else? Yes, most likely a membrane. It is not shaped, you can cut it yourself from sheet rubber up to 1 mm. Help me find the reason, geyser Astra 8910-02, when hot water is turned on it goes out from time to time, I cleaned the thermocouple until it shines, the membrane is in good condition, but just in case I replaced it with a new one, the water pressure is less than that of cold water, what else note? Maybe the traction is bad, or the traction sensor is acting up. If there is no draft sensor, then there is a tube bent with a hook at the top of the water heater and going to the igniter. Through this tube, the air necessary for combustion is supplied to the igniter. If the draft (and, accordingly, the removal of smoke) is disrupted, then not air, but smoke will flow through the tube, and the igniter will go out, the thermocouple will cool down and the column will turn off. So even without a draft sensor (it is triggered by an increase in temperature in the upper part of the device), but with such a system, the column reacts to deterioration/absence of draft. The pilot flame should hit the thermocouple. If for some reason this does not happen, then due to insufficient heating of the thermocouple it produces less current and the solenoid valve shuts off the gas supply to the burner. Geyser Astra, model 8910, 1.5 years. From the very beginning of the connection, when adding gas, the temperature of the hot water increases (from warm to noticeably hot), when turning the gas supply control knob to the left, when placing it against the right small red flame icon on the front cover of the column, it begins to “sing” and crackle. The water pressure, cold and hot, at the outlet is satisfactory, but the water temperature (for example, when filling a bath) is low. I'm afraid to increase the gas supply. When you turn the handle even slightly to the left, it continues to “sing” and crackle even louder. I don't think it's safe. Is it possible to somehow solve this issue? If it’s like a kettle before boiling, then it’s scale. Needs to be cleaned and washed. Who removed the heat exchanger from the VPG-18 gas water heater? Share your experience, I just can’t unscrew it, I’m already pulling with the gas wrench with all my strength, but it won’t budge. The inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger are screwed with union nuts and fittings. It is unscrewed with ordinary keys, but there should be two of them: one key holds the fitting, and the second key unscrews the nut (you can do the opposite: hold the nut and unscrew the fitting). If you use a gas wrench with force, the nut may crack. There are difficult cases when water leaks into this connection and over time the connection sours. Then it is better to remove the device, put it on the floor or on a table and unscrew it like that. The gas water heater Astra VPG-18 is malfunctioning and has stopped lighting up. I disassembled the frog, changed the rod with the mushroom and the membrane. After this, it lights up only at maximum pressure and, accordingly, hardly heats up. What can you do? There is an old frog without a disk. If the membrane is black, so it will be. If there is a cap for the key 22 on the front of the water block, unscrew it. There is a filter installed there - remove it. The adjusting needle of the pressure regulator is screwed into the plug; try unscrewing it. It will break and then it won’t be a shame to buy a new regulator with a disk; you can adjust the pressure without disassembling it. With the plug turned out, use a D2 mm knitting needle to clean the hole in the block. A year and a half ago we purchased and installed an Astra gas water heater. They called gas workers, who looked at the water pressure and advised us to buy this model. After some time, the pressure of hot water in the bathroom decreased (private house, kitchen and bathroom nearby). The kitchen remained at the same level. In the kitchen the speaker turned on immediately, and in the bathroom only if water was flowing in the kitchen. Today my pipes froze and there was no water for some time. Now the water pressure is the same as before. But it doesn't turn on. Even if I turn on hot water, both in the bathroom and in the kitchen. Tell me, what could this be connected with? There is one hot water outlet from the boiler. If the hot water pressure was good in the kitchen, but poor in the bathroom, then the problem was not in the heater, but in the pipe or faucet in the bathroom. Try adjusting the water flow using the appropriate adjustment screw. This is such a round thing in front of the water part (frog). Malfunction of the gas water heater Astra 18. It does not ignite at all, it goes out. We think that the membrane has burst, or there is no pressure (it’s just that before the pressure from the faucet in the kitchen was greater, now it is weaker, much less, but it still seems sufficient for the water heater to turn on). We'll see if it's clogged. The fact is that the pressure of water from a cold and hot tap is very different (hot water flows much weaker). The igniter seems to be good, it doesn’t bother you, it’s practically inaudible, it burns constantly. What can be done? Try disconnecting the water outlet from the column and lighting it. If it lights up, then your pipes are clogged; if not, then either the membrane is torn or the filter mesh is clogged. Unscrew the regulator wheel on the front of the water block, there is a 8 nut. Under it is a 22 nut. Unscrew it and pull out the filter mesh. I have had the same device for 5 years now. The igniter was noisy. I took a spring from an automatic ballpoint pen and inserted it into the igniter outlet. The groove fits just right there. It is located under the guide petal of the flame. There is no need to disassemble anything. The result is a divider. Now I can't hear the pilot light at all. The Astra 8910 geyser is in operation. Once again, having dismantled the heat exchanger and poured an anti-scale solution into it, I decided to check where I was experiencing strong pressure losses. What we have: water pressure 1.6 atm. (3rd floor and water tower), 12.5 liters per minute from a cold tap. It seems clear that the column reduces water pressure. After descaling, water flow improves. So, the cold water pressure is good - 12.5 liters per minute. I connect the flexible connections of the inlet and outlet of their column with a nipple - the pressure is almost the same. I installed a cleaned heat exchanger. The pressure decreased quite a bit. Thus, I discovered that the lion's share of pressure loss occurs in the water block. 3.5 liters per minute comes out of the hot tap! Cold is 12.5, and hot is 3.5! The water block has a hot-cold regulator. It stands in the cold position, ensuring maximum water passage through the column. Maybe this regulator inside is broken in the horizontal position, and the device slows down the flow as much as possible because of this. How can I check this? There's nothing to break there. Most likely, the filter located there (a mesh in the form of a tube) is clogged. You need to unscrew the nut that is under the hose adjustment handwheel and take a look. I remember a similar case. And the heat exchanger was washed, and the water part was disassembled, and what not they did, but the output was still not enough water. It turned out that on the cold water pipe at the connection in front of the column, those who installed it had pinched the gasket, and initially little water flowed into it. The Astra VPG gas water heater is in operation. It worked well for 5 years, but a malfunction appeared. Symptoms: The wick goes out during ignition when you release the handle. I press the left handle - gas is supplied to the wick. I turn it counterclockwise - the piezo is triggered, the wick lights up, I stand there, waiting for the thermocouple to warm up. After waiting for any number of minutes, I release the handle - the wick goes out, but should continue to burn. Over the last week, it often turned out that the column was turned off; for what reason the wick went out, I didn’t have time to finally figure it out. Often I had to go light it. And here it was discovered that sometimes it was quite difficult to ignite it, that is, it was necessary to heat the thermocouple for almost 2 minutes. And then she didn’t want to get fired up at all. A few hours later it ignited the first time within 30 seconds. But then it went out again and did not light up for a day. Then it lit up one last time, and I haven’t been able to do it again until now. Tell me how to identify and fix the problem? You need to check whether the tip of the thermocouple is smoked; if necessary, carefully clean it with fine sandpaper. Is the thermocouple well washed by the igniter flame? If necessary, clean the nozzle (often called the nozzle) of the igniter with a very thin wire; from the thermocouple to the electromagnetic valve (EMV) there is a thin tube, where it enters the EMC, unscrew the nut, pull out this tube and use a zero-snatch (or a matchbox striker) to clean the contact, insert the tube into the electromagnetic valve and tighten the nut without excessive force . Is there a draft/overheat sensor in the column? If there is, then clean the contacts on it. If all this does not help, then most likely you need to change the thermocouple. Problems when turning the column on/off are possible due to the fact that it is time to replace the membrane in the water part (the water part is also called the frog). The traction sensor with the solenoid valve form a series circuit in which the current is supplied by a heated thermocouple; if there is poor contact, the water heater will not turn on. The traction sensor is triggered by overheating - the contact in it opens due to the heat, the current disappears in the circuit, and the electromagnet in the EMC “releases” the valve, which shuts off the gas. Checking the serviceability/failure of the traction sensor is simple: just short-circuit it, if after this the column starts working, it means it is faulty. Malfunction of the geyser Astra 8910-02. It always takes a very long time for the pilot light to light up; you have to press the button for about 30 seconds for the pilot light to light up, and this has always been the case, ever since the column was installed. And the second question, recently, already during the supply of hot water, both the burner and the igniter constantly began to go out, after this extinguishing - it is even more difficult to light the igniter, you need to press the button much longer to light it. The device is about 5 years old. Perhaps it will help. In models of this type (both Neva and Astra) the operating principle is absolutely the same. Malfunction of the Astra VPG geyser. It crackles a lot when water is supplied, and it doesn’t matter whether it burns or not, what is the reason? You probably have a recirculation pump installed in your water supply system (throughout the entire system). If this is the case, it is better to connect the home system to the general water supply using a soft or plastic connection. We lit the Astra gas water heater, turned on the hot water, the water heater itself either goes out or comes on. I was told that it was either a membrane or a bad rod. I opened the block, lubricated the rod with graphite grease, and replaced the membrane upside down. I worked for several days. Then the same thing. I bought a new block, bronze, with a spring fastening on top, the old one didn’t have this, the store said that it should be like that. The rod doesn't move at all. Okay, I installed it and now even the wick won’t light. What can be done? In the old block, replace the membrane (it has stretched) and everything will be fine. The wick doesn't light up because you did something a little too clever. It should light up, at least when the button is pressed. The fastening with a spring is used to replace/fill the stuffing box of the rod; previously there was a rubber ring inside, but it was very inconvenient and, most importantly, it was not always possible to change it. There is a thrust ring on the cone and when removed and installed it did not hold well. Try pulling the rod out with your hands on the new dropsy and then pushing it back in. Should walk with little resistance, but freely and without snagging. Also try turning the Venturi wheel all the way, on the front of the dropsy.

  • NEVA REPAIR

In operation, the Neva VPG-12E gas water heater, after turning on the hot water tap, the water heater lights up, but the temperature does not rise above 20 degrees. The water pressure is normal, it does not respond to the regulator for increasing the flame, as it was 18-20 degrees, it remains so. What could be the problem?

  • ARISTON

I connected the Ariston Marco Polo Gi7s speaker. Everything is working. But the device turns on the second time. That is, you turn on the water, the column starts up, clicks and goes into error E1. Then he closed the tap, opened it and it started. Powered by a cylinder. Is this possible because after it works I turn off the gas?

  • ELECTROLUX

There is a malfunction of the Electrolux 275 geyser, when you turn on the hot water, everything lights up and works for 5-7 minutes, after which there is a click in it and it goes out along with the igniter. Tell me what is the problem?

  • OASIS

Malfunction of the Oasis TUR 20 geyser. In the “Summer” mode, the gas and water regulator is at maximum. It goes out on its own, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 30. In the “Winter” mode, with any combination of controls, it goes out after 30-40 seconds. What can be wrong? Water supply via flexible hoses. Could they be the cause? If yes, what should I replace it with?

  • VECTOR

Tell me, I have this problem: when the water is turned off, the column lights up on its own, the temperature rises and does not turn off (I had to take out the batteries), I put the batteries back in (I don’t turn on the water), it lights up, what should I do?

  • BOSCH

I installed and put into operation a Bosch WR 13 gas water heater. I switched the nozzles to liquefied gas, removed the jumper from j6, that is, switched it to liquefied gas mode, but the water heater does not work, who knows anything about this? When turned on, the green button lights up for a couple of seconds, and then the red button starts blinking and only the fan turns on.

  • JUNKERS

The Junkers gas water heater began to malfunction. It works for 15-20 minutes and goes out. You turn the water off and on, the igniter lights up, and after a few seconds it goes out, and you can do this no matter how many times, it doesn’t light up. A little time passes - it works, and everything repeats again. The water pressure is good, as is the gas pressure. What could be the reason?
